Zuffa Boxing is set to make its official debut on January 23. The new boxing promotion, under the TKO/Zuffa umbrella, will hold its first event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card takes place on the Friday before UFC 324 and will be streamed live on Paramount+.
The main event features a junior middleweight showdown between Callum Walsh and Carlos Ocampo, a carefully chosen matchup to showcase the launch of the new promotion.
Callum Walsh: The Face of Zuffa Boxing
Callum Walsh (15-0, 11 KOs) has long been touted as one of Dana White’s most promising projects. Several of his bouts have already been featured on UFC Fight Pass, and now the undefeated Irishman takes center stage in Zuffa Boxing’s inaugural main event.
Walsh is currently ranked highly across multiple sanctioning bodies and recently earned a unanimous decision victory over Fernando Vargas Jr. on the undercard of Crawford vs. Canelo.
A Tough Test in Carlos Ocampo
Carlos Ocampo (38-3, 26 KOs) brings significantly more experience to the ring. The Mexican fighter has faced elite opponents such as Errol Spence Jr., Sebastian Fundora, and Tim Tszyu, but came up short in his biggest title fights.
Since his loss to Tszyu, Ocampo has returned to form with three stoppage wins. For Walsh, this matchup represents the toughest challenge of his career so far – and for Zuffa Boxing, a first real measure of the promotion’s competitive ambitions right out of the gate.
