Belal Muhammad defeated Kerim Engizek in their no-gi contest at ACBJJ 22 in Istanbul. The former UFC welterweight champion forced the former OKTAGON titleholder to submit to a rear-naked choke.

Muhammad controls the decisive positions

The contest began on the feet, but Muhammad quickly dictated its direction. He repeatedly closed the distance, completed several takedowns and controlled Engizek from top position. Engizek survived the early ground exchanges and briefly returned to his feet, yet produced little offense of his own.

After another takedown, Muhammad consolidated control and worked his way to Engizek’s back. With roughly 90 seconds remaining in the ten-minute contest, he secured the rear-naked choke and forced the tap.

The result confirmed the central danger identified in the CS.C preview: Muhammad’s wrestling and positional control kept Engizek on the defensive for most of the match. As this was a grappling contest, the result does not affect Engizek’s professional MMA record.

The complete match is available free in ACBJJ’s official recording on YouTube.
