Dana White, the renowned CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), has announced his intention to enter the world of boxing. This move comes after years of speculation and a previous attempt in 2017 that didn't materialize.
White revealed his plans during a recent press conference, stating that he aims to begin announcing fights at the start of 2025.
"I have a plan," White declared. "I'm going to implement that plan and we'll see how it works." He emphasized his long-held ideas about how boxing should be managed, expressing confidence in his ability to bring innovation to the sport.
The UFC CEO believes that timing is crucial, and he sees the current landscape as opportune for his entry into boxing. White plans to apply the successful UFC model to boxing promotion, aiming to consolidate talent under one promotional umbrella – a strategy that has proven effective in mixed martial arts.
Despite acknowledging the challenges ahead, White remains optimistic. "People have been talking about the demise of boxing for 30 years and we're still here talking about boxing right now," he noted. "I'm coming in guns blazing."
