After months of uncertainty, Max Holzer has finally spoken in detail about his sporting future. In a personal video, the 24-year-old openly discusses his contract situation, potential weight classes, and the possibility of the UFC.
Holzer’s current contract with Oktagon is set to expire next April. Talks about a possible extension have not yet begun, which also leaves his participation in the planned Hannover event uncertain. At the same time, Holzer makes it clear that Oktagon continues to be an important part of his career.
The UFC as a realistic option
One statement in particular stands out: Holzer describes a move to the UFC as “very realistic.” According to him, contacts in the United States already exist, and he visited the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas in December.
There, his body was thoroughly assessed with a clear outcome: a move down to bantamweight (61 kg) is achievable with professional support. At the same time, featherweight (66 kg) remains an option, giving Holzer flexibility across multiple organizations.
Multiple paths, one clear goal
In addition to the UFC, other international promotions such as KSW, PFL, and FNC are reportedly showing interest. For Holzer, the primary focus remains sporting ambition. His long-term goal is to establish himself at the highest level and compete at the top of the sport.
Currently working his way back from injury, Holzer expects to be fight-ready again within six to eight weeks. The coming months are therefore likely to be decisive.
The message from the video is clear: Max Holzer is exploring his options — and a move toward the UFC is no longer just a distant idea.
