Klötzer and Lebowski Win Euro Bronze

Maxi Klötzer and Kevin Lebowski have each won bronze at the Elite European Championships in Sofia. Both lost their semi-finals on points on Wednesday, September 23.
Klötzer narrowly lost 2-3 to Spain's Laura Fuertes Fernández at 51 kilograms. Lebowski was beaten 0-5 by Turkey's Emrah Yasar at 90 kilograms. Both losing semi-finalists receive bronze at these championships, leaving Germany with two medals.
How they reached the semi-finals
Klötzer first advanced to the quarter-finals through a walkover against Martina Vassallo. She then won her first contested bout in Sofia against Hungary's Laura Horvath on points on Tuesday, securing bronze before the semi-final.
Lebowski followed her into the last four at 90 kilograms with a 3-0 points win over England's Isaac Okoh. They were the German Boxing Federation's only two semi-finalists at this championship.
Müller and Engels exit in the quarter-finals
Leonie Müller lost her 70-kilogram quarter-final on points to Turkey's Olympic champion Busenaz Sürmeneli. Helena Engels was beaten 5-0 by Turkey's Busra Isildar at 75 kilograms. Both exited without a medal.
