Eric Bergmann makes his MMA debut in Hamburg on November 21. Several other local fighters are also scheduled to compete.
WE LOVE MMA 91 comes to Hamburg's Barclays Arena on November 21, and Eric “BJJ Canelo” Bergmann faces a new test. The Hamburg fighter makes his MMA debut against Mykhailo Linke of Bremen. The promotion has announced several other matchups with local connections.
A grappling specialist enters MMA
Bergmann comes from Brazilian jiu-jitsu. According to WE LOVE MMA, he won gold at IBJJF International Opens in Geneva, Rome and Paris. In MMA, he now has to combine his grappling experience with striking—a different task from a BJJ-only contest.
According to the promotion, Linke won his first MMA bout at heavyweight. Bergmann is not facing a fellow debutant. That is the intriguing question of this matchup: How will Hamburg's BJJ specialist fare in his first MMA contest against an opponent who has already won inside the cage?
More Hamburg fighters on the card
Jaden Klinger of Hamburg's Hammerbrook Gym meets Adam Tadushaev of MMA Rostock at an 80-kilogram catchweight. At middleweight, Hamburg's Omar Amasha faces Spitfire Berlin's Aslan Bagaev, who the promotion says is unbeaten. Firat Sabaz and Andrej Goworuchin are also booked for a professional welterweight bout.
Barclays Arena lists the event start for 7 p.m. Readers new to the promotion can find more context in our WE LOVE MMA profile.
